Jean Nye 79 rural Oblong died Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at Good Samaritan Hospital

in Vincennes, Indiana. Jean was born December 12, 1921 in Oblong Township Crawford

County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Charles Stantz and Ora (Geffs) Stantz. On

October 19, 1951 she married Ralph Nye who survives. Jean was a homemaker and

worked on the family farm. She was a member of Prairie United Methodist Church and

played the piano for church services for many years. She was a member of D.A.R.

(Daughter of the American Revolution) and United Methodist Women. Her hobbies

included playing the piano and gardening. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Jean is survived by her husband Ralph; son and daughter-in-law Greg & Julie Nye;

2 grandchildren Erica & Tony Meese and Mitchell Nye and cousins Jim Gibler and

Ruth Ann Rudd. She was preceded in death by her parents.
